About LTLTS2-IA

Following the success of the first conference on interdisciplinary approaches to language learning and teaching in 2012, after acknowledging the necessity of addressing a wider scope, the Department of English Language and Literature at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad is organizing the 2nd Conference on Interdisciplinary Approaches to Language Teaching, Literature and Translation Studies (LTLTS2-IA). The two-day event is scheduled to be held at the School of Letters and Humanities, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 6 & 7, 2015 (Mehr 14 & 15, 1394). Scholars and graduate students in language education, literature, intercultural communication, area studies, literary history, translation and interpreting studies, language psychology, language sociology, language technology, and other related fields are cordially invited to contribute and participate in this academic event. The conference welcomes research on all languages, but abstracts and presentations should be in English or alternatively in Persian.

 

Call for Proposals

Cross-cultural uses of language in often multimodal forms in our globalizing world have highlighted new aspects and challenges to the study and practice of language. Interdisciplinary approaches to the study of language in various forms and contexts as the general theme of LTLTS2-IA is meant to foster discussions on reevaluation of past endeavors and new directions and innovations towards the application and investigation of language across overlapping disciplines. For that matter, LTLTS2-IA welcomes contributions addressing any of the following thematic areas in relation to language teaching, literature, or translation, as the three major realms of language use: 

  1. Certification, Employment, Entrepreneurship
  2. Training, Education, Curriculum
  3. Hybridity, Migration, Diaspora
  4. Localization, Globalization, Economics
  5. Gender, Identity, Norms
  6. Media, Narration, History
  7. Ideology, Power, Politics
  8. Agency, Capital, Sociology
  9. Memory, Cognition, Psychology
  10. Stylistics, Criticism, Assessment
  11. Meaning, Semantics, Semiotics
  12. Children, Young Adults, Intergeneration
  13. Computers, Information, Technology

Proposals for presentation in the 2nd Conference Interdisciplinary Approached to Language Teaching, Literature & Translation Studies can be submitted in the format of an oral communication or a poster presentation in English or alternatively in Persian.

A) Oral Communications

A proposal for an oral communication, which consist of a 20-minute presentation of an empirical research followed by a 10-minute discussion, can be submitted in response to the general theme of the conference.

B) Posters

A proposal for a poster presentation of an empirical research can be submitted in response to the general theme of the conference. Due to the accommodation and timing constraints, contributions to oral communications may also be asked to be presented as posters by the recommendation of the LTLTS2-IA scientific board even if they were originally submitted as oral communications.
